2025 Embase Classic (EMCL) Reload News
The Embase Classic (EMCL) database has been reloaded to implement the 2025.02 Thesaurus tools.
Changes in the new thesaurus:
Emtree Terms Added in May 2025
1266 new terms (including 29 replacement terms and promoted synonyms) have been added to Emtree as preferred terms in version May 2025 (compared to January 2025):
- 260 drug terms (terms assigned to the Chemicals and Drugs facet).
- 1006 non-drug terms (terms not assigned as Chemicals and Drugs).
Emtree Terms Changed in May 2025
- 29 terms (15 drug terms and 14 non-drug terms) from Emtree January 2025 have been replaced by 29 different terms in May 2025 (15 drug terms and 14 non-drug terms).
- Of these, 27 terms (13 drug terms and 14 non-drug terms) are new (e.g. new generic names for drug chemical names) and have been assigned creation date 2025; the remaining 2 replacement terms (2 drug terms and 0 non-drug terms) were already present in Emtree.
- No drug terms were replaced by a non-drug term, No non-drug terms were replaced by a drug term. No preferred terms were deleted.
